Size: Single Secondary and Backyard Suite Incentive Program build

The Bungay build is a compact, yet impactful modular housing project located in Cape Breton and among the first to be approved under Nova Scotia’s Secondary and Backyard Suite Incentive Program in Cape Breton for an individual with intellectual disabilities.

This project was delivered in partnership with the Municipality of Richmond County, where Brela has also been engaged in broader efforts to amend local bylaws to support similar developments across the region. Supported through a provincially administered program, the Bungay build reflects an intentional focus on accessibility, aging-in-place, and affordability for vulnerable populations, including seniors and persons with disabilities.

Beyond its immediate success, the project offers a scalable model for repeatable, rapid, and cost-effective modular housing solutions tailored to rural and underserved communities across Nova Scotia.
